They answer the phone. You get the film.

No writing, no app, nothing to keep up with. Rosa, our digital interviewer, calls and asks about what they just said, so one answer becomes a story.

After the first real conversation with Rosa, if your storyteller does not want to continue, reply to your receipt within 14 days of that conversation and we'll refund everything you paid. The stories already made stay on your storyboard.

What arrives

One set of conversations, five ways to keep them. You get all five. The film, ebook and audiobook arrive about two weeks after the last conversation.

  • ✓

    The filmThe centerpiece

One short film of them telling their stories, cut from the calls themselves.

  • ✓

    Video stories

One for each story they tell, captioned in their own words, ready to send to anyone.

  • ✓

    An audiobook

Their stories in their own voice, the way they said them.

  • ✓

    A keepsake book

The same stories written down, names and dates and all, in digital form.

  • ✓

    The recordings

The original audio behind every story, theirs to download and keep.

  • ✓Six conversations with Rosa, or three hours of talking, whichever comes first, at scheduled times or whenever suits them.
  • ✓The film, the audiobook and the keepsake book arrive about two weeks after the last conversation.
  • ✓Every conversation and every story stays on your storyboard. Nothing renews to keep them.

The stories nobody wrote down

The summer job. The drive home. The year everything changed. They come up at dinner, everyone laughs, and then they go back to being nowhere.

A photograph keeps the afternoon. It does not keep the way they tell it.

From three real calls

One thing I learned: work is not easy. You have to work at what you want to do.

Don E., on his first job at fourteen, unloading fifty-pound sacks of potatoes at a commissary in Sandusky.

Yep, I was fired from my first job. But guess what? I got to go to Niagara Falls.

Deborah Z., on the strawberry fight at Frisch's Big Boy, the weekend her parents were driving to Niagara Falls without her.

She would get up at four in the morning and make a whole breakfast for my dad before he went to work. Then before we went to school, she would make biscuits and gravy and eggs and sausage, and it was delicious.

Janie P., on her mother, who raised five children in Michigan and never drove a car.

How it works

You do the first part. After that they answer the phone, and that is all they have to do.

  1. 1

You set it up in a few minutes

Their name, their number, and the day you would like the first call. That is the whole setup. If you add their email, we send them a welcome note, and the first call opens with a plain hello and who Rosa is.

  2. 2

    Rosa calls, and keeps asking

No app, no login, no writing, and nothing to record. Rosa asks the second question, and remembers what they said last time.

  3. 3

The stories arrive, ready to share

Each conversation comes back as a video story your whole family can watch on their phones, usually the same day.

Rosa is our digital interviewer. At the start of every call, Rosa says that Rosa is an AI. What Rosa records is real: their voice, their words, kept exactly as they said them.
